Yesterday on The SB Show got interesting. It started off normal with MC, J Swiss (@jswisshere) from NY who premiered 3 joints from his latest project Awthenticity. Then…it got WEIRD…in a good way. Yesterday on The SB Show got interesting. It started off normal with MC, J Swiss (@jswisshere) from NY who premiered 3 joints from his latest project Awthenticity. Then…it got WEIRD…in a good way. Mind you, we drank 2 bottles of Hennessy that night on the show. Shout out to the cognac kings. So we had the founder of Hennypalooza, Kam (@koolestkidout) on, along with my good friends, Peso (@de_la_sole) and Techie (@Techienyc) to talk about the upcoming Hennypalooza 3 which is June 1st. My show normally ends at 10pm, but we got the go ahead from the bossman that night to go an extra hour longer, because it was such good radio (Think an urban version of The Howard Stern Show). The last hour we dubbed “The SB Show: After Dark”…it is very much X rated…please do not have kids around when you are listening…lol. It is very honest and very funny…I promise you. Shout out to my DJ for the night, DJ Polarity (@darkpolocious), for holding me down and filling in for my house DJ, DJ Dyllemma (@djdyllemmaradio). I will definitely have a recap from Hennypalooza 3 for y’all. Enjoy the podcast and shout outs to Kam and Peso for being the first ones on my show to make me embarrassed and speechless on air! The origins of Ugly Heroes stems from Apollo Brown wanting to do a heavy blue collar album that paints a real picture of life out there. Not a gangsta record. Not a hipster record. A record that paints life as it is today for a lot of the working poor. And as much as we all want to act like we aren’t the working poor – truth is, most of us are living check to check with moments of glory interspersed with notices from electric companies that the disconnect is pending. Emcees Red Pill (Detroit) and Verbal Kent (Chicago) lay some of the rawest slice of life narratives in the game today over 15 tracks produced by Apollo Brown. Think soul drenched beats with moody horns and heavy drums. We all listen to these rags to riches stories most people sell us, but this is that rags and still hoping story. The album is Ugly Heroes.
