Okay, I’m trying to stay calm but I kind of have a headache, so please forgive… Fuck that I’m not asking for forgiveness, this is fuckery! Detroit?!? What. The. FUCK?!?!?!? What the hell is going on in Detroit?

Apparently the Detroit City Council has just past a law stating that strippers have to be: 3ft away from their customers, abolishing lap dances, and eliminating V.I.P. rooms? In addition to that, strippers have to have licenses. What? You have to have a license to shake your ass? How do you even begin to ask for that at the clerk’s office? How would that conversation go?

“Hi ma’am, how can I help you?”… wait a minute, this is Detroit so let me correct that professional courtesy…

“Excuse me, can you get off yo god damn cell phone and help me over here?”
“I will be there when I’m there, you ain’t got nothing to do you can wait. Shenequa, let me call you back… I’m ’bout to get hood in this b*tch.”
“What you want?”
“I’m TRYING to get my ass shaking license. I don’t appreciate having to come all the way down here to Jefferson from Dexter, find a place to park, and come in here to have to deal with YO attitude just to show my ass at work. I got kids to feed!”

First off, of all cities in this country, I really don’t understand why are laws like this are even taking up this City Council’s time?

Let me explain what is going to happen:

• Women aren’t going to be able to make as much money in clubs.
• Bartenders aren’t going to be able to make as much money.
• Club Owners will not be able to make as much money.

Mmmmmm, so what is this law doing because it seems like all it’s going to do is take money from people in a city where PEOPLE NEED MONEY!!!! The only good thing is… fuck I can’t think of anything good about it. It’s not going to stop anything. The only thing that’s going to happen is women will go from dancing in clubs, to people’s houses. So instead of worrying about making money, they’ll now they have to worry about making money AND being raped – or worse. Yes, some strippers turn to prostitution to supplement the income they don’t make in clubs. What do you think they’re going to do now? Stop trickin’? THEY’RE GOING TO BE LOSING EVEN MORE MONEY SO THEY’RE GOING TO TRICK MORE!

I guess the brain trust over at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center have never heard about prohibition. You know, that thing the federal government did when they banned alcohol from 1920 to 1933. That thing that turned mafia families into illegal MILLIONAIRES. Ironically, prohibition was created and pushed by special interest (Rockefeller, because alcohol was considered a possible substitute for crude oil back then… he stood to lose a lot of money) and religious groups shoving their personal, moral agenda down the world’s throat.

Insert the presence of Marvin Winans at the heart of this matter. The pastor of the church where they segregate tithers and offering-givers, in front of the congregation, in lines by the amount of money they donate.

So that’s why Marvin Winans happened to be at the center of all these debates on the news and present at the City Council meeting where they decided to put this plan into action. I wonder how he knew that THAT would be the day they’d vote and pass the strip club legislation.

But wouldn’t the strip clubs making less equal to club closures which would equal to less tax revenue for the city of Detroit?. Isn’t Detroit in a budget deficit already?

Yeah, real smart Detroit. I guess you guys have nothing better to do. It’s not like you have thousands of abandoned homes to take care of, or even an economy that is the worst in the nation. Yeah, those are not important. Not nearly as important as taking care of the failing school system. Detroit has been dealing with a failed economy and a falling population for years, but instead of doing something to try to get young people to stay, they keep doing idiotic things to give people a reason to move away.

How about this Detroit: fix your schools so parents have a reason to even think about sending their kids to them. Give them something else to see about Detroit Public Schools other than seeing that they continually get the lowest scores and the highest drop out rate in the country. Do something about the crime. Do something to keep our young people, that have a choice, from leaving as soon as it’s financially possible.

Detroit, if you really want to become the mecca you once were, you have to start by giving people jobs not taking them away.
