INTERVIEW: Lady Luck Bombs On Remy Ma, Ms. Hustle, & DJ Kay Slay During #DXLive

Originally posted on HipHopDX 7/31/2017

Throughout the years, Lady Luck has had her fair share of ups, downs, and industry beefs. As a straight shooter, Luck has never been one to bite her tongue or mince her words. The New Jersey-born wordsmith recently stopped by the DXHQ with her fiancé and business partner Somaya Reece to chop it up with the #DXLive team about new ventures, music, and rap feuds — both old and new.

As anyone with two ears very well knows, the topic of rap beef always looms with Hip Hop. Luck explains how her beef with Remy Ma has evolved and where it is today.

INTERVIEW: Bizzy Bone Talks Why He Refuses To Watch Both 2Pac & Biggie Biopics

While the 90s were being dominated by the boom-bap of the East Coast and the G-funk gangsta rap of the West Coast, there was a different sound independent of both coasts brewing in the Midwest. Chicago introduced the rapid-fire flow to the game in 1992 with Twista and Crucial Conflict opted for more style than speed in 1993; but in 1994, an unknown quintet from Cleveland would catch the ear of Eazy-E and marry the rapid-fire flow and style together in perfect harmony. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony has been a pillar of the genre for more than two decades. Just two days after the 23rd anniversary of one of the most important albums to come out of the Midwest, Creepin on ah Come Up, group members Bizzy Bone and Krayzie Bone released their collaborative album New Waves under the moniker Bone Thugs. Bizzy Bone recently stopped by DXHQ to talk with the #DXLive team about the album, his son carrying his torch, and his memories of 2Pac and Notorious B.I.G.

On a recent episode of #DXLive, the team debuted a new single and video “Bizzy’s In The House” from Bizzy Bone’s son Lil Bizzy. “He’s been musically inclined since he was a baby,” Bizzy Bone said. “I never had to rock him to sleep. We’d put him on the couch and he’d just rock himself to sleep mumbling words, mumbling rap music. Anything that would come on he would mumble it and emulate it, especially my stuff of course – and his uncles, Bone Thugs. He was born to do this. It’s just good to see him carry on a legacy that I’m still cherishing as we speak.”

INTERVIEW: Kayla Brianna & London On Da Track Going Half On An EP

Originally posted on HipHopDX 10/20/2016

Kayla Brianna, R&B’s newest darling, recently stopped by DXHQ and announced that she’s teaming up with London on da Track for a new EP. “London on da Track and I are actually doing an EP together so I’ll be going to Atlanta in a couple weeks to work on that.” The announcement comes on the heels of her latest single and video “Work For It” produced by London and featuring YFN Lucci.

Also known as the daughter to NBA champion and NBA on TNT star Kenny Smith, the 23-year-old artist is looking to break out and make a name for herself in music. The partnership with London aims to do just that. London has made a name for himself over the past four years, producing for all of the South’s heavyweights from Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane, Rich Homie Quan and Travis Porter to fellow Cash Money artists Lil Wayne and frequent collaborator Young Thug. London is best known as the mastermind behind the boards on T.I.’s 2014 RIAA gold-selling winner “About the Money” featuring Young Thug and Rich Gang’s chart-topping single “Lifestyle.”

EDITORIAL: The Double Standard On Justin Bieber & Tyga’s Underaged Girlfriends Cannot Be Allowed

Originally posted on HipHopDX 8/18/2016

If you’re like me, you try to shield yourself from the world of annoying, incessant pop culture and the Kardashian “famous for being famous” microwave era of celebrity. So you may not be aware that 22-year-old Justin Bieber is dating 17-year old-Sofia Richie, daughter of Lionel Richie. You are, by this time, most certainly aware that a 23-year-old Tyga started dating Kylie Jenner when she was 17. What are the differences in these scenarios and why would you be so openly aware of one over the other? Both girls, at the age of 17, are underage and cannot legally consent to a sexual relationship with a 22 and 23-year-old, respectively. But it’s only a year from consent right?

Let’s make this clear out of the gate so that there’s no misunderstanding my stance: There’s no reason a man over the age of 20 should even WANT a girl that’s 17 and under. What the fuck is wrong with you? What do y’all even have in common socially, mentally, and sexually? She’s a junior or senior in high school and you’re of the age where you’re finishing off college. You’re at least 3-4 years deep into full-time employment. She’s not even fully developed. You’re gross. You’re sick. You might literally be sick medically and you should seek professional help.
