INTERVIEW: “One Week Notice” Crew Talks Ambitious Collaboration Ahead Of Concert Shutdown

Originally posted on HipHopDX 1/11/2018

In today’s microwave society, it’s rare to see artists recording together. Tracks are sent through email and Dropbox as rappers and producers go about their lives from different corners of the globe. So when nine artists got together in Austin, Texas to record an album in a week? DX had to find out more.

Dame Ritter of Still Movin’ and Beatstars reached out to nine creators from different walks of life and put them up in a house for one week in December — the outcome was One Week Notice. Dizzy Wright, Audio Push, Emilio Rojas, Jarren Benton, Demrick, Reezy, and producers DJ Hoppa and Kato came together to create a body of work that most collectives would be hard pressed to create in a month. The #DXLive team was able to catch up with most of the crew earlier in January as they prepared for the release and an epic show in Long Beach that fans who went won’t soon forget.

INTERVIEW: Bay Area MC Saweetie Talks “Icy Grl” & Social Media Fame

Originally posted on HipHopDX 11/13/2017

For as many rappers as the Bay Area has produced, Kamaiyah is one of the few women to break through in the scene’s rich history. Hayward native Saweetie wants to become the next female MC to break the trend and put on for women in NorCal.

“I’m a Bay girl. The Bay raised me,” Saweetie said when asked about her history of living across California. “I love Sacramento too, so I kind of have two hometowns: Hayward and Sacramento. Those two cities shaped me into who I am today. I’m definitely a Cali girl but more like Bay Area.”
